Windows 7 pricing- upgrade and special price for Windows7 released

Wow, I’m so interested in writing this post. Many of the visitors to this blog have asked or searched for the price of different versions of Windows 7 and when will Windows 7 be released. Microsoft has the official answer now.

Microsoft has already announced the pricing and release date (October 22, 2009) to it’s most deserved upcoming Windows 7 Operating System, the offer seems attractive for those opting to upgrade right away.

Early upgraders may be able to get a Windows 7 upgrade for as little as $49.99 in lieu of $119.99 for Windows 7 Home Premium, and $99.99 in lieu of $199.99 for those upgrading to Windows 7 Professional. The Windows 7 Ultimate adopters currently see no benefit from this scheme. This offer is set to run for a limited amount of time or more accurately, based on the number of units sold. Microsoft plans to have this offer available only for a limited number of units, which it claims is quite a generous amount.

Windows 7 SKU    Full retail price    “Special” Upgrade Price    Standard Upgrade Price
Win7 Home Premium 199.99    49.99    119.99
Win7 Professional 299.99    99.99    199.99
Win7 Ultimate 319.99    219.99    219.99

It seems the special upgrade vs standard upgrade price for the Ultimate edition (which was available for free download RC1) is the same.
