Windows Vista Blue Screen error- 0x0000007B

When will Microsoft eliminate the ultimate BLUE SCREEN ERROR in it’s most used Windows OS? This has given us torture in a way or the other. The exact replica of what a suffered user sees is produced in this article.

This issue is based on HP Pavilion dv2700tx Special Edition Laptop.

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it it properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B ( 0x80399BB0, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

The above blue screen error was followed by Windows Error Recovery as cited below:

Windows Error Recovery

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

  1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
  2. Choose your language settings, and then click “Next.”
  3. Click “Repair your computer.”

Other options:

If power was interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally.

(Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)

Tried with all of the above options and would work for a boot or the other. But none of the above methods worked permanently (at least for me) even the repairing Vista with the original Windows Installation Disc.

In an attempt to normalize the issue, press F8 for Advanced Boot Options with full screen description as following:

Advanced Boot Options:

Choose Advanced Options for: Microsoft Windows Vista
(Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable low-resolution video (640×480)
Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)
Directory Services Restore Mode
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Disable Driver Signature Enforcement

Again, tried with all options. However, last two- Disable automatic restart on system failure and Disable Driver Signature Enforcement could generate your interest towards. Give each a try. Disabling them might solve your laptop problem (as for me the solution was temporarily—means HP Pavilion dv2700tx would start normally to show its desktop after Disabling automatic restart on system failure with at least 3 or 4 attempts.

  1. Microsoft’s best error is the blue screen. Why can’t they just eliminate that on their later versions?
Will Windows 7 be prone to that?
